Final Book Reviews Pt. 1

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People:

Before I started reading the assigned books, this one seemed much more interesting, but after reading it, it was not as effective as How to Win Friends and Influence People.  After the first few chapters, this book started getting redundant and it seemed to emphasize the same points constantly with different words.  I think that the first three habits were the most important, then they eventually got less and less important and less interesting.  I did learn from this book, but since I read it after How to Win Friends and Influence people, what I learned was more like a reinforcement of what I had already learned.

How to Win Friends and Influence People:

This book was much more interesting to me and will continue to be something that I can look back on when I need to think of what I am doing wrong.  From the very first chapter, you start to learn things about yourself and others that will help you in your daily life, and with relationships.  I think that when i began to think about what I had read and put those things in practice,  I felt more fulfilled. Instead of giving us very general terms like The Seven Habits of Highly Effective people, there are very specific examples of how putting these practices to use can help influence others and make us a person who is both considerate, and sought after. I will continue to study this book in the future because it really does hold keys that can lead to a better life.  If I were to do it over again,  I would have only purchased this book because of its practicality and effectiveness.
